About The Cove

Neighborhood Overview

The Cove encompasses the residential area surrounding Laguna Beach's famous cove beaches north of downtown — an intimate neighborhood of narrow streets, historic beach cottages (some dating to the 1920s and 1930s), and homes that sit within genuine walking distance of both the water and the galleries, restaurants, and shops of the village. Several homes in The Cove are among the oldest continuously inhabited residences in Laguna Beach, listed on the California Historical Resources inventory.

Properties range from $2 million for smaller historic cottages to over $12 million for larger blufftop or oceanview residences. Lot sizes are compact by Laguna standards — 3,000 to 8,000 square feet — but proximity to the beach, village walkability, and the irreplaceable neighborhood character more than compensate. The cove setting, with its dramatic cliffs and clear water, is one of the most photographed coastal environments in California. Main Beach, downtown galleries, restaurants, and Heisler Park are all within a comfortable 5–10 minute walk.

Historic Village Scale

Narrow streets, 100-year-old cottages, and homes evolved over a century create a neighborhood intimacy that cannot be engineered — it has to be grown over time.

The Cove Insider Facts

The Cove's historic cottage stock includes several structures built in the first two decades of the 20th century, when Laguna Beach was being established as California's premier artist colony. Some of these original cottages have been owned by the same families for three and four generations — an extraordinary continuity of residential tenure that is essentially impossible to find anywhere else in coastal Orange County.
