South Laguna Village is the urban core of South Laguna Beach — the cluster of local shops, restaurants, and community gathering places that give South Laguna its distinctive, unhurried village identity. South Laguna was officially a separate unincorporated community until 1959, when it was annexed into the City of Laguna Beach. Many longtime South Laguna residents still identify primarily as 'South Laguna' — a distinct community identity rooted in the area's history as a fishing and farming village that predates the art-colony development of central Laguna Beach.
The residential fabric ranges from historic beach cottages to newer contemporary homes. Prices span from $1.5 million for village cottages to over $10 million for exceptional oceanfront or bluffside properties. The walkable beach access — 5–10 min on foot from most properties — combined with genuine local commercial life makes South Laguna Village one of the most complete residential packages in the city. South Laguna's beaches receive dramatically fewer visitors than Main Beach and the central Laguna shores — residents enjoy some of Southern California's most beautiful coastline without the summer crowds.
